Shares in Taiwan ended lower Monday despite a late rally as bargain hunting
emerged ahead of an increase in the local market's weighting under the latest
MSCI regular index review.

The market came under pressure initially after U.S. stocks fell Friday,
following hawkish remarks by Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh, and the
early downturn also reflected a spike in crude oil prices following renewed
military strikes in the Middle East.

The National Cultural Association of Taiwan is holding a two-day "Taiwan Day"
cultural event in Poland later this month...

featuring Taiwanese contemporary dance and folk arts (民間藝術), plus a market
showcasing Taiwanese food and culture.

A social media post said that performances at the event will "transform the
Polish streets into a Taiwan temple front."

The event on September 11th and 12th will see stalls showcasing Taiwanese
foods and goods, including dumplings, which are described as the Taiwanese
counterpart to Polish pierogi.

At a promotional press event in Taipei, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, who
also serves as NCAT vice president, said the cultural tour is aimed at
inspiring Europeans to visit Taiwan and experience the country.

SANCTIONS STRATEGY

US President Donald Trump has warned that the door remains open to further
military strikes on Iran, delivering a blunt assessment of Tehran's weakened
state while speaking to reporters at the White House.

The comments came as the Washington Post reported that Iran's economy is
feeling new pain from the latest sanctions campaign, though analysts doubt
the measures will bring Tehran to the negotiating table.

Iran has rejected (拒絕) the sanctions, with its economy minister saying the
new measures will fail.

Mitch Mccann in New York says a social media post by US President Donald
Trump showing an AI-generated image of bombs hitting Iran's main oil export
facility has raised concerns about what the White House may be planning.

Congo’s authorities report that the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak in history
has topped 6,000 cases with 2,911 deaths.

More than 1,360 people have recovered from the virus which authorities on
Monday called an “encouraging” development.

The outbreak in eastern Congo is spreading under extremely (極為) difficult
conditions.

Insecurity, displacement, a health workers’ strike and intense population

The virus spread into two new health zones in the region last week.

The World Health Organization says it remains out of control and is on track

Mount Sinabung in Indonesia has erupted, spewing black ash and smoke into the
sky over Sumatra island.

Gray ash covered several villages after Monday's eruption, and authorities
distributed (分發) masks to residents to protect themselves.

People were advised to refrain from activities in nearby villages in Karo
district in North Sumatra province and areas within 6 kilometers of the
summit.

ndonesia’s Geological Agency raised the alert to the second-highest level for
volcanic activity and expanded the safe zone around the mountain.

Sinabung has had increased volcanic activity recently, and the agency's chief
said a larger eruption (噴發) could occur.

The Food and Drug Administration is ordering the recall (回收) of more than
half a million heart medication tablets (心臟病藥片).

Biocor Film-Coated Tablets, supplied by Anxo Pharmaceutical Company (瑩碩生技) is
being recalled because of the presence of impurities (雜質) that could
potentially affect its efficacy (功效).

The drug is approved for the treatment of hypertension (高血壓), angina (心絞痛)
and stable, moderate-to-severe chronic heart failure.

The company was ordered to complete the recall by Aug. 31 and submit a recall
report.

The FDA says there are 10 other drugs with the same active ingredient (活性成分),
dosage form (劑量) and strength that are licensed in Taiwan, meaning there is
no concern about a shortage (短缺).

People with concerns about their medication should consult (諮詢) their doctors
as soon as possible about switching to an appropriate alternative (合適的替代品)
.

The Taipei Zoo's Giant panda Yuan Yuan (圓圓) turned 22 yesterday... she
celebrated with a livestreamed birthday feast (大餐) featuring a "fruit and
vegetable train" loaded with (裝滿了) specially prepared treats.

The event was accompanied by the sound of visitors taking photos, as well as
excited chatter (嘰嘰喳喳講話聲) from children and parents and cheers of "Yuan Yuan,
I love you!" from the crowd.

The zoo said that while bamboo makes up the main part of a giant panda's
diet, she was served a special birthday meal.

Now that she's a senior, the zoo said Yuan Yuan receives care that goes
beyond simply providing food and rest.

Keepers regularly monitor her weight, appetite, feces (糞便), activity levels
and behavior, while adjusting medical care, diet (食物) and environmental
enrichment (環境豐富化) based on changes in her physical and behavioral condition.

Members of the Polish special forces are taking part in an exercise that
simulates (模擬) moving through enemy lines and launching a drone strike on a
key enemy location.

Initially designed (原先設計給) by the Army’s Green Berets for U.S. special
forces, the exercise that began Friday simulates many of the challenges that
Ukrainian troops have experienced in their war with Russia.

It's the first time a NATO ally (北約盟國) like Poland has undertaken the
training.

It comes at a time when tensions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and
NATO countries have escalated (升高).

The drill highlights the focus that some parts of the U.S. military have on
learning the latest techniques in drone warfare, pioneered by Ukraine.

The death toll from catastrophic flash floods (災難性的山洪暴發) in Nepal has risen
to nearly eight hundred, with more than three thousand people still missing
across Nepal and the Tibet region of China.

The disaster was triggered last Tuesday when a glacier collapsed near
Langtang Lirung in the Himalayas, sending floodwaters and mudslides along a
seventy-two-kilometre stretch of the Trishuli River.

Authorities have begun burying unidentified victims whose remains(遺體) had
badly deteriorated (嚴重惡化), though they say forensic records (鑑識紀錄) have been
taken.

Iceland's voters have rejected a referendum (公投) to restart negotiations to
join the European Union.

RÚV, the national broadcaster, said opponents defeated the measure by a
margin (差距) of 53-percent to 47 percent.

The result will put the issue to rest for the second time about a decade
after a euroskeptic (懷疑歐盟的) government ended EU talks.

The referendum was held amid concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump's
threats toward neighboring Greenland, prompting some voters to consider
European solidarity (歐洲團結合作).

Opponents cited fishing rights (捕魚權) and existing benefits from the EU's
single market, while supporters argued for economic stability and closer ties
with Europe.
