The Food and Drug Administration is ordering the recall (回收) of more than
half a million heart medication tablets (心臟病藥片).

Biocor Film-Coated Tablets, supplied by Anxo Pharmaceutical Company (瑩碩生技) is
being recalled because of the presence of impurities (雜質) that could
potentially affect its efficacy (功效).

The drug is approved for the treatment of hypertension (高血壓), angina (心絞痛)
and stable, moderate-to-severe chronic heart failure.

The company was ordered to complete the recall by Aug. 31 and submit a recall
report.

The FDA says there are 10 other drugs with the same active ingredient (活性成分),
dosage form (劑量) and strength that are licensed in Taiwan, meaning there is
no concern about a shortage (短缺).

People with concerns about their medication should consult (諮詢) their doctors
as soon as possible about switching to an appropriate alternative (合適的替代品)
.

The Taipei Zoo's Giant panda Yuan Yuan (圓圓) turned 22 yesterday... she
celebrated with a livestreamed birthday feast (大餐) featuring a "fruit and
vegetable train" loaded with (裝滿了) specially prepared treats.

The celebration was livestreamed on social media...

The event was accompanied by the sound of visitors taking photos, as well as
excited chatter (嘰嘰喳喳講話聲) from children and parents and cheers of "Yuan Yuan,
I love you!" from the crowd.

The zoo said that while bamboo makes up the main part of a giant panda's
diet, she was served a special birthday meal.

Now that she's a senior, the zoo said Yuan Yuan receives care that goes
beyond simply providing food and rest.

Keepers regularly monitor her weight, appetite, feces (糞便), activity levels
and behavior, while adjusting medical care, diet (食物) and environmental
enrichment (環境豐富化) based on changes in her physical and behavioral condition.

Members of the Polish special forces are taking part in an exercise that
simulates (模擬) moving through enemy lines and launching a drone strike on a
key enemy location.

Initially designed (原先設計給) by the Army’s Green Berets for U.S. special
forces, the exercise that began Friday simulates many of the challenges that
Ukrainian troops have experienced in their war with Russia.

It's the first time a NATO ally (北約盟國) like Poland has undertaken the
training.

It comes at a time when tensions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and
NATO countries have escalated (升高).

The drill highlights the focus that some parts of the U.S. military have on
learning the latest techniques in drone warfare, pioneered by Ukraine.

The death toll from catastrophic flash floods (災難性的山洪暴發) in Nepal has risen
to nearly eight hundred, with more than three thousand people still missing
across Nepal and the Tibet region of China.

The disaster was triggered last Tuesday when a glacier collapsed near
Langtang Lirung in the Himalayas, sending floodwaters and mudslides along a
seventy-two-kilometre stretch of the Trishuli River.

Authorities have begun burying unidentified victims whose remains(遺體) had
badly deteriorated (嚴重惡化), though they say forensic records (鑑識紀錄) have been
taken.

Iceland's voters have rejected a referendum (公投) to restart negotiations to
join the European Union.

RÚV, the national broadcaster, said opponents defeated the measure by a
margin (差距) of 53-percent to 47 percent.

The result will put the issue to rest for the second time about a decade
after a euroskeptic (懷疑歐盟的) government ended EU talks.

The referendum was held amid concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump's
threats toward neighboring Greenland, prompting some voters to consider
European solidarity (歐洲團結合作).

Opponents cited fishing rights (捕魚權) and existing benefits from the EU's
single market, while supporters argued for economic stability and closer ties
with Europe.

The Tai-Ex opened up 96-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 46,070
on turnover of 12.5-billion N-T.

The government says its has prepared Taiwan's national search and rescue team
to travel to Nepal following the deadly flash floods near the Nepal‑China
border earlier this week.

According to the National Fire Agency, it has ordered the national special
search and rescue team and rotating (輪流) units from Tainan, Hsinchu City and
Chiayi County to prepare for departure.

Fire Agency Director‑General Hsiao Huang‑chang says although Taiwan has yet
to receive a request for help, the national special rescue and research team
will respond in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to any such
requests from affected countries.

And the foreign ministry says there have been no reports of any Taiwan
nationals being trapped or affected by the disaster.

Russia has launched a major attack on Ukraine that targeted nine cities with
missiles and drones.

The assault began Wednesday night and continued into Thursday.

The strikes hit areas such as the capital Kyiv and caused civilian
casualties.

Ukrainian officials say that Russia builds up missile stocks to exhaust
(用完，耗盡) air defenses.

Ukraine has targeted Russian sites including online retailers in response.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy emphasized the need for more air defense
support from the United States and Europe.

Zelenskyy is due to visit Moldova which reported drones breaching its
airspace.

The ongoing conflict has raised concerns among Russia's neighbors about a
potential wider conflict.

REJECTS THE MOVE

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario
as "Lake America," deepening the rift with Canada that has already triggered
(觸發) retaliatory tariffs worth billions of dollars.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has rejected the name change, saying
Canadians will continue to use the lake's original name, which derives from
an indigenous Wendat word more than four hundred years old.

Jagruti Dave, our reporter in Washington, says the executive order has
limited practical effect beyond US federal maps, and other countries are
unlikely to adopt the new name.

Malaysia is set to repatriate nearly 1-thousand-500 Myanmar nationals this
weekend as part of a voluntary program.

The Home Ministry announced Thursday that this is the first phase of a
broader (更廣泛的) effort involving 5,000 eligible individuals.

The first group, identified by Myanmar’s government, will be sent back on
Sept. 29 on Myanmar's navy vessels.

As of Aug. 15, the ministry said over 10-thousand Myanmar nationals were held
in immigration detention depots (拘留所).

It said the government is also introducing a new Refugee Registration
Document to manage refugees and asylum seekers.
