Voucher program for transiting passengers to be extended to end-2028

The Tourism Administration has extended a program that provides vouchers to
people transiting Taiwan for another couple years.

The program was introduced a year ago. Any passenger transiting through the
Taoyuan International Airport for less than 24 hours has been given a 600-NT
voucher ... for an initial period that ended Oct. 31.

The Tourism Administration has extended that period to Dec. 31, 2028.

It said the program gives travelers an incentive to explore Taiwan during
their short stay. The extension is expected to benefit the opening of
Terminal 3 in Taoyuan, which is slated for completion at the end of 2027.

The agency says that an initial run of 40,000 vouchers will be distributed by
the end of this month, and an additional run of 40,000 is being ordered.
