Taiwan's main parties point lack unity over unity comments

Taiwan's main political parties are having difficulty achieving their ideal of coming together -- even it if it's just for National Day.
Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu focused his National Day address on a message urging President Lai Ching-te to resolve cross-party conflict.
KMT and TPP party members rallied around the message, saying that the president has a responsibility to resolve the deadlock between the DPP and the opposition parties.
But DPP caucus whip Chuang Jui-hsiung (莊瑞雄) says Han's speech exacerbated the conflict by pointing fingers.
Chuang notes that Han had called on all parties to avoid adding fuel to the fire and immediately used terms like "fake democracy, real dictatorship" (假民主、真獨裁).
To put Han's words into context, he said "Taiwan cannot be seen as a fake democracy, a real dictatorship."
TPP caucus whip Hung Yu-hsiang (洪毓祥) said he appreciated the sentiment, noting that a truly confident democracy doesn't fear parliamentary oversight.
