The Centers for Disease Control says, Taiwan's flu outbreak remains in the epidemic phase, with new severe cases and deaths reaching their highest weekly totals in a year.
CDC data shows that there were over 139,000 outpatient and emergency visits for flu-like illness last week.
That's down 1.4% from the previous week, but shows that flu activity remains at epidemic levels.
Laboratory surveillance shows influenza A remains dominant in the community.
This comes as more than 1.4 million people have received publicly funded flu and COVID vaccines since Thursday.
During the previous flu season, over 2/3rds of patients did not receive that season's flu vaccine.
CDC officials say that COVID activity is continuing to ease but remains at epidemic levels.
The CDC says that flu vaccine uptake among those 65 and older rose 10% compared to last year...
a trend that appears to be partly driven by the new "health coins" incentive program.
