US remains top debtor of Taiwan's banks for 44th straight quarter

American banks accounted for more than 30 percent of international loans
issued by Taiwan banks as of June.

That's the first time Taiwan's banks have reached that level of exposure to
US debt.

Taiwan's central bank says local banks' exposure to immediate counterparty US
debt reached a new high of 222.5 billion dollars in the second quarter, up
6.5 percent on quarter.
