MOTC amends regulations on allocation of revenue from traffic fines

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications has amended regulations
related to revenue from traffic fines to increase the allocation for
improving traffic safety from "at least 12 percent" to 100 percent.

Previous regulations have been criticized for local authorities' use of the
funds for general operating costs rather than to address deficiencies in
roads and traffic policing.

Under the new regulations, which take effect in 2028, counties and
municipalities will be required to file half-yearly reports on how they've
spent the funds.
