Taiwan will extend entry restrictions on residents of the Democratic Republic of the Congo for another 90 days to reduce the risk of Ebola being imported into the country.
The current entry restrictions had been set to expire on Aug. 28.
Under the restrictions, most DRC residents aren't permitted to enter Taiwan even with valid visas, while the issuance of new visas will also remain suspended.
Taiwan's CDC said exceptions will continue to be in effect including for students admitted to degree programs and diplomatic or official visitors.
According to WHO data, the DRC recorded 5,021 Ebola cases and 2,378 deaths as of Aug. 16. That puts the case fatality rate at 47 percent.
The CDC added that if Uganda reports no new cases by Aug. 27, Taiwan will lift its entry restrictions on Ugandan residents as of Aug. 28.
Uganda hasn't reported any new Ebola cases since June 21.
