Taiwan removes Finland from ASF-free list, bans imports of Finnish pork

Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture has removed Finland from its list of areas
free of African swine fever ... warning that anyone caught importing pork
products from Finland will face penalties.

This comes after the country confirmed domestic ASF cases.

According to the Finnish food authority, preliminary tests on the carcasses
of three wild boar piglets found in southeastern Finland were positive.

According to agriculture ministry statistics, Taiwan imported just under
1,000 metric tons of pork products from Finland between January and June this
year.

The center said although there are no direct flights between Taiwan and
Finland, there remains a risk that pork products could be sent to Taiwan from
Finland by mail.
