Taiwan's industrial output hit a new high in June.
According to data compiled by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the industrial production index rose 22.95 percent from a year earlier to 139.44 in June. It was the 28th consecutive month of on-year growth.
The ministry said AI, high-performance computing devices and cloud-based services continued to bolster Taiwan's ICT industry in June.
It added that some traditional industries appeared relatively weak amid escalating competition and a slow recovery.
Production in the chemical and fertilizer industry fell nearly 12 percent from a year earlier in June ... amid buyers' caution toward the market outlook. The auto and auto parts industry reported a 1.7 percent decline on inventory adjustments.
An official with the ministry's Department of Statistics said overall momentum is expected to continue in the second half of this year on strong AI demand as well as the debut of new consumer electronics products by international brands.
