MOEA: Taiwan comes out a winner in latest US tariff move

The Ministry of Economic Affairs says that Taiwan is in a good position after the US's most recent imposition of tariffs related to forced-labor practices.
The ministry says that Taiwan's 10% levy puts it at a relative advantage compared with competitors.
For example, tool and machinery makers in Japan and South Korea will be tariffed at 12.5%.
For hand tools, plumbing hardware and bicycles, Taiwan's 10% rate compares favorably with China's rates that are above 40% ... and Vietnam's, which are set at 15 to 18%.
For textiles and medical equipment, Taiwan will also see a 10% US tariff, while China is looking at 40 to 46%.
Meanwhile the ministry noted that semiconductors and ICT products from Taiwan are exempt from the new tariff.
