The Central Weather Administration says Typhoon Bavi is at its closest point
to Taiwan now ... and that land and sea warnings associated with the storm
will remain in effect until at least tomorrow morning ... even its intensity
weakens.

At 11:00am, the storm's center was located around 260 kilometers northeast of
Taipei, with a maximum sustained wind speed near the center of 137 km/h,

Its radius is 350 kilometers, and it's moving northwest at 25 kilometers per
hour.

The typhoon's storm circle extends to land areas north of Taichung.

Until this evening, the storm's effects on Taiwan are at their most impactful.

The Central Weather Administration says that Hsinchu County saw the biggest
accumulation of rainfall, at 334mm, by 11am. Yunlin County has seen more than
300mm of rainfall.

Areas north of Hsinchu as well as mountainous areas of Yilan, Nantou, Yunlin,
and Chiayi should all be on alert for torrential rain.
