Typhoon Bavi covers top third of Taiwan, heading northwest

The storm is less than 300 kilometers east northeast of Taipei as it
continues to track northwesterly, with maximum sustained wind speed near the
center of 140 km/h and a radius of 350 kilometers.

Offices and schools are closed in most parts of Taiwan, and the typhoon is
affecting travel by land, sea and air.
