Shimen Reservoir opens spillway

The Water Resources Agency says it has opened the spillway leading out of the
Shimen Reservoir to control the water level.

This comes as more than 200mm or rain had accumulated in the reservoir's
catchment area.

This marks the first time the spillway has been activated in 618 days --
since Typhoon Kong-rey passed over the island on Oct. 31, 2024.
