Taipei mayor anticipates numerous incidents, including falling trees

The Taipei City Disaster Prevention and Relief Office says that around 50 incident reports had been filed by 7am today.
These include fallen trees, power outages and damage to public infrastructure and buildings. The office says most of the issues will be dealt with after the wind subsides.
The city refers to wind speeds on the Beaufort scale, with Level 10 meaning winds between 89 and 103 km/h -- powerful enough to uproot trees. When wind is at this level or higher, it isn't safe to repair damage.
Taipei MRT Corp. says most above-ground sections of the rapid transit system are down ... as it's unsafe to operate trains with winds at level 10.
The entire brown line is down, as is the red line from Yuanshan to Tamshui. Underground sections of the green and blue lines continue to run on a reduced frequency.
Taipei mayor Jiang Wan-an says that levels as high as 11 were seen in urban areas overnight. That's between 103 and 117 km/h.
The mayor said that he expects many more incidents to be reported through this evening, when the storm is at its most intense.
He says he has instructed his team to make repairs as soon as it's safe to do so.
