Taiwan trade representative engaged in workplace bullying: Cabinet

An investigative committee established by the Cabinet has found that Taiwan's trade representative bullied her late deputy.
The probe, conducted by one Cabinet member and four external members, found that Yang Jen-ni (楊珍妮) "consistently" used her position and authority to interrupt Yen Huai-hsin (顏慧欣) and dismiss her opinions, creating an "offensive and unfriendly" work environment.
It also found that Yang repeatedly used "offensive language" to scold colleagues at the Office of Trade Negotiations.
The investigation concluded that Yang's behavior exceeded what could be considered "reasonable" management and therefore constituted workplace bullying.
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) said today that he'll make a comprehensive review of the findings to decide as soon as possible on whether they merit sacking Yang.
He said regardless of the decision, Taiwan upholds the principle of maintaining a safe and respectful workplace environment.
Yen died on March 12 at the age of 53 shortly after resigning from her post.
In her resignation letter, she wrote that proposals she made were repeatedly ignored.
