Two hospitalized after man self-immolates at New Taipei gas station

A man allegedly set himself on fire at a filling station in New Taipei
yesterday afternoon, leaving himself and another person injured.

The city's department said it received a report that a man had set himself on
fire at a CPC Corp. gas station on Minzu Road in Banqiao District.

By the time firefighters arrived, station staff had extinguished the blaze.

The department said the perpetrator sustained second-degree burns, and the
fire also injured a security guard who was standing nearby.

Both were conscious and taken to Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in Banqiao for
treatment. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Haishan Police Precinct declined to confirm whether the man set himself
on fire.
