MAC: Taipei mayor should be able to attend Shanghai forum next month

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council says Taipei Mayor Jiang Wanan shouldn't
encounter any headwinds in his plan to attend the "Twin Cities Forum" in
Shanghai next month.

Doubts were sown after the council said it was disinclined to approve an
application by the deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Taiwan Affairs
Office to visit Taiwan ... but in its supporting role for the Twin Cities
Forum, the MAC said Chiang's trip to Shanghai was on course. This is despite
KMT officials telling Shanghai officials yesterday that there could be a
snag.
