The Ministry of Finance says Taiwan's exports in October surged by 50 percent on year to US$61.8 billion, a record monthly high.
The ministry says the jump was driven by strong global demand for artificial intelligence technologies.
It's the 24th consecutive month of growth and the largest monthly increase in nearly 15 and a half years.
October imports totaled US$39.2 billion, the highest for the month on record, up 15 percent on year.
Taiwan's trade surplus reached a monthly record US$22.6 billion in October.
A ministry official cautioned that some industries, including metals and metal products as well as plastics and rubber products, still face overcapacity pressure and weak demand, which led to a decline in exports in October.
Shipments to the United States in surged to more than US$21 billion, a 1.4-fold on-year increase. The U.S. accounted for 34 percent of Taiwan total exports, 11 percentage points ahead of China and Hong Kong.
