Taiwan slams China for designating Oct. 25 'Taiwan Restoration' day

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council is setting the record straight regarding the name of the holiday that was celebrated yesterday.
This came after Xinhua News Agency reported that Chinese legislators had adopted a resolution to designate Oct. 25 as "Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration."
The MAC said Beijing is trying to amplify a false historical narrative and one-sided political framework that Taiwanese people will never accept.
The Taiwan holiday is called "Taiwan Retrocession Day" in English or Taiwan Guangfu Jie in Chinese. It commemorates the day in 1945 when representatives of the Republic of China accepted the surrender of Japanese forces in Taiwan.
The MAC noted that the Chinese Communist Party hadn't yet established the People's Republic of China in 1945.
In a statement, the council said, "Taiwan Retrocession Day has nothing to do with the PRC, nor with the CCP, which made no positive contribution to the war against Japan."
