Typhoon Dolphin is expected to come closest to Taiwan tonight through Sunday
before turning west-northwest toward China's Zhejiang coast.

The CWA says the storm is gradually weakening but will remain a moderate
typhoon as it passes through waters north of Taiwan.

A sea warning remains in effect.

Heavy rain is forecast across northern Taiwan and the central mountains, with
torrential rain possible in mountain areas north of Taichung.

Rain will intensify tonight and spread into central and southern lowland
areas, where localized heavy rain is possible through Sunday.

Strong gusts are forecast along the north coast, in northeastern and
southeastern Taiwan, and on the Hengchun Peninsula.

High-wave alerts cover northern and eastern coastal areas, the coast north of
Taichung, Green Island, Orchid Island and Matsu.

Meanwhile, foehn winds could push temperatures to 38 degrees in parts of
eastern Taiwan.

Rain should begin easing Sunday night, although central and southern Taiwan
could remain wet as winds shift to the southwest.
