Taoyuan Rolls out 136 Electric Buses Pushing Toward Full Electrification

Taoyuan has rolled out 136 new electric buses, boosting its share of e-buses
from under 1 percent to 18 percent.

Mayor Chang San-cheng says the long-term goal is to replace all diesel buses
with electric ones by 2030.

He notes that with another 137 vehicles on order this year, Taoyuan's e-bus
fleet could exceed 35 percent by next year.

Officials say the new buses will serve five major routes, bringing not just
environmental benefits but also more comfort, lower operating costs, and a
modern image for public transport.

The city is also providing subsidies and helping bus companies set up
charging facilities to encourage a faster transition.
