Core Pacific Development Corporation has agreed to temporarily pause a redevelopment plan tied to corruption allegations against former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je.
The company has requested a change to its building permit for the Core Pacific Plaza project, which involves the former Core Pacific City mall in Songshan District.
Prosecutors accuse Ko of taking bribes to illegally approve a 20-percent increase in floor space, boosting the property's value.
The developer says the permit change is temporary and reserves the right to continue the project as planned.
Taipei Deputy Mayor Lee Si-chuan says the city will review the case over the next three months, ensuring public safety and proper legal procedures.
The case has sparked bipartisan calls to revoke the permit, raising concerns about unfinished construction if the project stalls.
Ko was indicted last month for corruption during his time as mayor.
