Haitian gang seeks 'peace, stability and national reconciliation'

One of Haiti's most powerful gangs says it has reached out to the state
agency responsible for dismantling armed gangs in a push for peace.

The 400 Mawozo gang says that it plans to participate in a peaceful
demonstration later this month "to lay the groundwork for a national dialogue
and peace negotiation process."

Haiti's National Commission for Disarmament, Demobilization, and
Reintegration has confirmed that an individual contacted them on behalf of
the armed group.
