Israeli Arab Parties Consider Unprecedented Alliance to Oust Netanyahu

A veteran Arab lawmaker in Israel says his political bloc is prepared to break with decades of precedent and form an alliance with Jewish-led parties in an effort to end Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's long rule.
The proposal could bring together parties that have traditionally remained politically separate, but it also carries significant risks for both sides.
For the Arab-led Joint List, joining a government could mean supporting policies that do little to end Israel's wars or halt settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu's opponents would have to work with parties that strongly criticize Israeli government policies and reject the country's identity as a Jewish state.
Any such partnership would therefore face difficult political compromises, even among those united in their opposition to Netanyahu.
