Taoyuan borough chief posts bail in vote buying investigation
Posted on 2026-11-05 19:13:13
A borough chief seeking reelection in Taoyuan's Guanyin District has been
released on bail amid a vote-buying investigation.

Prosecutors say the candidate, identified by her surname Feng (馮), allegedly
offered households 5-thousand NT in cash in July in exchange for votes.

Investigators searched five locations yesterday, including residences and
offices linked to Feng and a local campaign organizer.

Five people were summoned for questioning over suspected violations of
election bribery laws.

Prosecutors say the suspicions are serious but detention was unnecessary.

Feng was released on bail of 150-thousand NT, while the other four people
were released without bail.
