Taoyuan shop operator indicted after food poisoning sickens 155
Posted on 2026-11-05 19:13:13
A lunchbox shop operator in Taoyuan's Zhongli District has been indicted over
a food poisoning outbreak in April that sickened 155 people.

Prosecutors say the 44-year-old man, surnamed Wu, failed to store ingredients
properly and maintain sanitary conditions in his kitchen.

Tests found the bacteria in samples from four victims and in potato salad
served in the lunchboxes.

Affected customers reported symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea,
stomachaches and nausea.

Wu has admitted to negligence and has already paid compensation to some
victims. He also plans to compensate others affected by the outbreak.

He has been charged under the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation.
