Coast Guard brings in boat as prosecutors search for wanted legislative aide
Posted on 2026-11-04 14:05:13
The Coast Guard has brought in a fishing boat and its captain as authorities
investigate whether a wanted legislative aide fled by sea from Keelung.

Ocean Affairs Council Chair Kuan Bi-ling says the boat went to sea on October
28th.

She says no one was found in the cabin and the captain denies involvement.

Prosecutors are still checking whether the boat is linked to the case.

The aide, Chang Chun-chieh, worked for independent lawmaker Kao Chin Su-mei.

He was charged in a corruption case and is also suspected of involvement in a
Chinese espionage case.

A court issued a warrant after he went on the run while out on bail in
September.

Taipei prosecutors have directed police to review video footage to check
reports that Chang left from Zhengbin Fishing Harbor.
