Former legislative aide who jumped bail left Taiwan from Keelung
Posted on 2026-11-04 14:05:13
Ocean Affairs Council Minister Kuan Bi-ling says a former legislative aide
who jumped bail earlier this month in a corruption case has fled Taiwan.

Chang Chun-chieh was a former aide for independent lawmaker Kao Chin Su-mei.

According to Kuan Chang, is suspected of leaving Taiwan illegally by sea from
Keelung’s Zhengbin Fishing Harbor in late October.

The case is currently being handled the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office
and details of its ongoing investigation remain confidential.

However, the Ocean Affairs Council minister says that her office is also
investigating how Chang was able to leave Taiwan and the Coast Guard
Administration is working closely with police - who have questioned several
people believed to have assisted Chang to flee the island.

The 70-year old disappeared on September 6 after police found his broken
electronic wrist monitor in Taipei's Daan Forest Park.

An arrest warrant and a 1-million N-T reward for information leading to the
arrest were both issued for Chang.
