SinoPac still investigating unauthorized transfer of NT$40 million
Posted on 2026-11-04 14:05:13
Bank SinoPac is still investigating the cause of over 400 unauthorized
transactions yesterday.

The bank says the 427 unauthorized transactions totaling more than 40-million
N-T and affected 419 customers.

According to the Financial Supervisory Commission, it was notified by the
Bank SinoPac that customers had reported unauthorized transfers from their
accounts despite not having logged into the bank's new mobile banking app.

The F-S-C says an initial review by the bank found that all the transfers had
been sent to a single account at another bank.

Each transaction involved about 100,000 N-T.

The commission also says Bank is using its own funds to reimburse affected
customers and has taken its new mobile banking app offline.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Bureau says it received nearly 70
emergency notifications for deposit withdrawals.

The bureau, says Bank SinoPac reported that funds from several individuals'
E.Sun Bank accounts were transferred directly to Fubon Bank accounts and it's
been asked to conduct a full audit to determine whether any criminal activity
occurred.
