Posted on 2026-11-04 08:15:14
And finally,

The Taipei City Government has suspended work at the demolition site of the
Old Beitou Market after four people were injured when scaffolding collapsed.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an says the contractor will be fined maximum
contractual penalty of 2.5-million N-T.

According to Chiang, the city's Construction Management Office is
investigating the incident to determine responsibility, while structural and
civil engineering experts are inspecting the site and determine the cause of
the collapse

The accident occurred at the three-story demolition site on Xinshi Street in
Beitou District.

A section of scaffolding spanning three stories and measuring about 5 meters
by 18 meters collapsed at the site.

A male construction worker fell from the third floor but remained conscious
despite suffering serious injuries, while three passersby sustained minor
injuries.

All four were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
