Financial Supervisory Commission Chairman Peng Jin-lung says momentum in Taiwan's capital markets has accelerated over the past year, driven by soaring tech stocks boosted by the A-I boom.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Taiwan Weeks 2026, Peng said Taiwan's markets have soared over the past year as listed companies have set new records for sales and profits.
The value of Taiwan's stock market has surged more than 60-per cent from a year earlier as of the end of October, with the Tai-Ex climbing from around 28,000 points at the end of October 2025 to above 45,000 points a year later.
Peng told attendees that lifted the market's capitalization to 158-trillion N-T at the end of October - an increase of about 61-per cent from a year earlier.
The annual Taiwan Weeks event is aimed at showcasing the development of Taiwan's financial sector and Peng said it's expected to help investors around the world better understand investment opportunities in Taiwan.
This year's theme is "From Tech Island to Capital Hub: Where Capital Meets Technology."
