Taipei Mayor and DPP on Nvidia headquarter project

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and the ruling DPP are trading accusations over who deserves credit for bringing Nvidia's overseas headquarters to the capital.
Chiang rejects claims that political interference by the city government delayed an agreement between Nvidia and Shin Kong Life over a site for the project.
He says the city helped remove obstacles rather than create them, eventually arranging for the insurance company to return the land so it could be made available to Nvidia through a special agreement.
Premier Cho Jung-tai, meanwhile, says the Cabinet helped secure the project by addressing funding and legal issues.
The DPP's legislative caucus also argues that the government's Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program helped bring Nvidia to Taiwan in 2021.
The dispute comes as Chiang promotes the headquarters project as a major achievement of his city government.
