AFC Delays 2027 Asian Cup Amid Middle East Conflict
Posted on 2026-11-03 19:08:14
The Asian Football Confederation has postponed the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi
Arabia by nearly a year ....

.... due to the conflict in the Middle East and recent deadly attacks on the
kingdom by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

That means the tournament will now kick off in December 2027.

The decision followed extensive consultations with Saudi organizers, who
cited logistical difficulties and travel disruptions caused by the regional
situation.

The A-F-C says the move was made in light of the "exceptional circumstances"
affecting the region.

The tournament will bring together national teams from across Asia to compete
for the continent's top football title.
