Taiwan's New Car Registrations Fall in October

Taiwan recorded just over 33-thousand new car registrations in October --
falling around 11 percent short of industry expectations.

The figure was down over 10 percent from September and 3.6 percent from a
year earlier.

Industry representatives say a typhoon disrupted sales late in the month,
despite strong demand and promotional offers from automakers.

However, new vehicle registrations for the first 10 months of the year
reached around 340-thousand, up 3 percent from the same period last year.

Looking ahead, industry representatives expect registrations to rebound to
around 38-thousand in November, up over 4 percent from a year earlier.

They say new models and bigger discounts ahead of the year-end sales season
should help boost demand.
