FM Lin calls on China to follow established practice for APEC summits

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung says Taiwan will uphold its right to attend this month's APEC summit in China, despite what he describes as Beijing's "differential treatment".
Lin says Taiwan is a full member of the forum and has always participated on an equal footing with other member economies.
He accuses China of departing from established practices by failing to deliver the invitation in person, instead sending it by email.
Although the email used Taiwan's official APEC designation, "Chinese Taipei", Lin says Taipei will lodge an immediate protest against any further violations of established procedures.
He stresses, however, that Taiwan will not give up its right to participate.
The summit is scheduled to take place in the Chinese city of Shenzhen on November 18th and 19th.
