The airplane on which the losing candidate in last weekend's Brazilian presidential election, Flavio Bolsonaro, fled to the United States was paid for by a broker through a US bank account.
That's according to Luis Grande, the director of the Argentinian airline company that carried Bolsonaro away.
Grande also revealed that the broker was an Argentinian-American dual national who paid $150 000 (4.9 million NT) from his company's bank account.
Grande refused to reveal the broker's identity but the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times have said that the plane was chartered by Jason Miller, an advisor to Donald Trump.
Bolsonaro has still not conceded defeat to his left-wing incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and has called himself the "leader of Brazil" and the "victim of electoral fraud" on social media.
He refused to obey a Supreme Court order mandating that he surrender his passport and stay in Brazil, as he is involved in a money laundering investigation there.
