More than 43 million have already voted in the US midterms

More than 43 million Americans have already voted in early voting before the
US midterm elections.

This is much higher than in previous elections, with roughly 4 or 5 million
early votes each day that polls have been open.

Early voting has been particularly popular in Texas -- especially in
Latino-majority communities near the Mexican border.

The data also suggest that Hispanics and blacks are voting early more than
they have in previous years, and that the early votes seem to be going more
to Democrats than to Republicans.

These elections will decide which party will control the US Congress for the
next two years.

The election officially takes place next Tuesday, November 3rd.
