Legislative Yuan to Suspend Meetings for a Week Ahead of Local Elections

The Legislative Yuan has decided to suspend plenary and committee meetings
from November 23rd to 27th ...

... to allow lawmakers to campaign ahead of the nine-in-one local elections.

Today's decision was reached during cross-party negotiations, in line with
the legislature's usual practice ahead of local elections.

Lawmakers also agreed to extend the current legislative session until January
31st next year, to allow more time to complete the review of the central
government's 2027 budget.

Meanwhile, lawmakers have agreed to complete the third reading of the 2026
supplementary budget by November 20th.
