Keelung prosecutors launched a vote-buying investigation involving a non-partisan city council candidate and her family.
Candidate Lee Yun-jing was released on $200-thousand bail following overnight questioning by prosecutors.
But the prosecutors petitioned to detain Lee's husband and father-in-law, both former city councilors, citing risk of evidence destruction and collusion.
Investigators allege the family provided banquets and distributed campaign gift packages worth $400 NT to influence voters.
Lee entered the council race after her husband was stripped of office over an assistant fee fraud conviction.
