Paris suburb shooting suspect targeted specific people
Posted on 2026-10-30 09:04:14
French prosecutors say a man suspected of a deadly shooting near Paris last
week has admitted targeting people of "Muslim, African or North African"
appearance.

One person was killed and seven others, including a child were injured last
Friday when the man opened fire as he drove through two western suburbs.

According to the the national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office, the suspect
has been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with a
terrorist enterprise.

President Emmanuel Macron has called it a "racist terrorist attack" and
anti-racism demonstrations have been held around France.

Three of those wounded are still in hospital with one in critical condition.
