Pakistan Approves Taiwan Airline Overflights After Reported Ban

Pakistan has approved China Airlines and EVA Air to use its airspace after reports it had barred Taiwanese carriers.
The permissions run from October 28 through March 27 next year.
Bloomberg had quoted Pakistan's defense minister as saying Taiwanese airlines were excluded under its "one China" policy.
Cabinet spokesperson Michelle Lee today expressed deep regret, accusing Pakistan of politicizing airspace and undermining Taiwan's sovereignty and flight safety.
However, the approval documents do not mention an earlier ban or explain whether Pakistan reversed its policy.
Taiwan's transportation ministry says the authorization covers the winter flight schedule, with seasonal applications being standard practice.
It says officials will stay in close contact with airlines, which will choose routes based on safety, weather, flight time and costs.
