Uber launches hourly charter service in northern Taiwan

Uber has launched an hourly car-hire service in five cities in northern
Taiwan, allowing customers to book a driver for up to 10 hours.

The ride-hailing platform says the service is available in Taipei, New
Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan and Hsinchu, through partnerships with local
transport companies.

Customers can book a vehicle for between two and 10 hours, customize their
itineraries and arrange trips from 48 hours to 90 days in advance.

Uber says the service is designed for sightseeing, family outings and travel
between cities, and it plans to expand to other parts of Taiwan.

The company says independent travelers account for more than 90 percent of
domestic tourism in Taiwan, while nearly 80 percent of trips are day trips.
