Prosecutors have brought Taipei City Councilor Chen Chong Wen (陳重文) in for questioning over potential violations of the Public Officials Election and Recall Act.
Chen, of the opposition KMT, was already sentenced to 9 years behind bars on corruption charges, and his appeal is currently being heard by the Taiwan High Court.
Having failed to secure the KMT's nomination in this year's elections, Chen is running as an independent for reelection in Taipei's first district, representing Shilin and Beitou.
Following searches, prosecutors brought Chen and others back for questioning.
