Alzheimer's Association Warns of Gaps in Dementia Care Across Taiwan

The Taiwan Alzheimer Disease Association is urging candidates in the upcoming local elections to address regional gaps in dementia diagnosis and care.
The association cited the latest data from the National Health Research Institutes ...
.... which show that ten counties and cities fall below the national average of 67.6 percent in estimated dementia diagnosis and care coverage.
Those include Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan and Taichung.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare estimates that nearly 400-thousand people in Taiwan will be living with dementia this year ... with that number expected to approach 600-thousand by 2036.
The association has put forward six policy demands, including earlier detection, better access to diagnosis and care, stronger support for family caregivers and more dementia-friendly communities.
It is also calling for greater protection of patients' rights and better coordination between government departments.
