Taipei prosecutors are seeking 30 years behind bars for a Taipei teacher
accused of molesting nearly 40 students.

The elementary school teacher, surnamed Zhou, is accused of assaulting and
taking inappropriate videos of male students as far back as 2010.

He allegedly used opportunities to get close to students, like playing video
games or basketball with them, in order to take advantage of them.

Zhou is believed to have taken the kids to several sites around Taipei and
New Taipei to carry out the assaults and take explicit videos.

He allegedly organized the video files by the child's name and the time it
was taken and stored them all on a computer and hard drive.

The case came to light when victims grew up and recognized the incidents as
assault and reported it to police.

Authorities in July and August carried out searches of Zhou's home and
workplace and ultimately received permission to detain him incommunicado.

Zhou is believed to have assaulted 38 children, and prosecutors are
requesting that he receive the maximum sentence permissible under the law.
