Indonesia
Now turning to international news...
Indonesians are increasingly turning against data centers being implanted in the country, as residents begin to face water and power supply issues.
Nikkei Asia reports that local residents on Batam island, for instance, have been facing water supply issues, and in recent weeks have only gotten water at nighttime.
That's as nearby Nongsa Digital Park began operations.
Batam is just a short ferry ride away from Singapore, and the island is now becoming a new hub for data center investment, drawing new projects as land and power constraints prevent too much development in Singapore.
As more data centers spring up, more local residents are rejecting them, particularly as a new drought brought by the El Nino weather pattern is straining resources.
