Lots drawn in Taoyuan for mayoral candidates
Posted on 2026-10-27 14:07:14
Taoyuan candidates for mayor have drawn lots to decide which numbers will
accompany their names on this year's ballots.

DPP candidate Huang Shi Jie picked number 1, while current mayor Zhang Shan
Zheng, of the KMT, drew number 2.

Both mayoral hopefuls did the drawing in person,

Zhang noted that, in his first bid for mayor, he drew "one," and thanked
constituents for their support in his four year term.

He added that he hoped he would be able to continue to serve Taoyuan in a
second term.

TPP representatives joined KMT supporters in cheering Zhang on.

Meanwhile Huang noted that he has been nicknamed "Penguin uncle," saying that
his slogan would be "the penguin will perservere, Taoyuan number 1!"
