Apple Offers Flexible Pickup for iPhone Duo Amid Typhoon Threat

Apple says customers who pre-ordered the iPhone Duo won't lose their chance
to collect their phones if Super Typhoon Champi forces stores to close
tomorrow.

The new smartphone is scheduled to go on sale tomorrow, but Apple's two
official stores in Taipei will close if the city declares a typhoon day.

Apple says customers with pickup appointments for Friday will be notified and
can collect their phones at any time after the stores reopen.

The two stores are located at Taipei 101 and the Xinyi A13 shopping mall.

The announcement comes as the storm continues to approach Taiwan ... with
local governments in northern Taiwan preparing to announce whether work and
classes will be suspended on Friday.

New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih said that New Taipei, Taipei, Keelung and
Taoyuan will make a joint announcement by eight this evening.
