Kinmen magistrate comes out against Songshan Airport move
Posted on 2026-10-22 17:08:13
Kinmen Magistrate Chen Fu Hai says he is against the Taipei mayor's proposal
to relocate the Songshan Airport.

Chen, of the TPP, says that such a move would have huge implication for
residents of Taiwan's outlying islands.

The magistrate added that, from the perspective of Kinmen residents or those
of any other outlying island, moving the airport should certainly be opposed.

Chen made the comments after councilor Dong Sen Bao董森堡 raised concerns that a
move would have negative effects for outlying island residents seeking urgent
medical care in Taipei.

Chen went so far as to say that Chiang Wan-an's suggestion to move the
airport was "entirely lacking supporting measures."
