The National Security Bureau says, it has gathered information on gang members suspected to be part of a Beijing-facilitated attack on a comedian.
NSB Chair Tsai Ming-yan says, the attack was coordinated by the CCP in an act of transnational repression.
Tsai adds that the attack on comedian Huang Yi Hao, who has been critical of Chinese President Xi Jinping, is a grave invasion of Taiwan's democracy and civil society.
The NSB chair pointed out that the five suspects all likely have ties to gang activity, and their names have been turned over to law enforcement authorities.
Tsai also says that law enforcement will be more stringent in dealing with the relevant gangs in the future.
The suspects are believed to have accepted 450,000 NT to injure Huang so grotesquely that he would not be able to perform.
